Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have once again struck Kwapre, a community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing 10 vigilantes and leaving several others severely injured.

Chronicle NG learnt on Sunday evening that the attackers, numbering heavily, stormed Kwapre and confronted the local vigilantes, who were fewer in number and poorly equipped.

The terrorists opened fire, killing 10 of the vigilantes and wounding many others.

The latest attack occurred on Saturday evening, April 26, 2025, marking yet another assault on Kwapre, a village that has suffered repeated Boko Haram raids in recent months.

“We lost 10 brave men, and others are fighting for their lives at FMC Hong,” said Hyella Anthony, a Kwapre indigene and former councillor of Garaha Ward.

Anthony further disclosed that the injured vigilantes were immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Hong for urgent medical care.

“These gunmen came in large numbers, heavily armed, and overpowered our vigilantes who were trying to protect the village,” Anthony added.

Expressing deep sorrow over the recurring attacks, the District Head of Dugwaba, Simon Yakubu, lamented that this latest raid was the fifth assault on Kwapre and surrounding villages within just two weeks.

According to him, the frequency and intensity of the attacks, combined with the attackers’ superior firepower and large numbers, have left local communities completely vulnerable.
