Pascal Dozie, the visionary founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s business landscape, has passed away at the age of 86.
Sources close to the family confirmed that Dozie died following complications related to old age.
Widely respected for his role in shaping Nigeria’s banking and telecommunications sectors, Pascal Dozie was also a co-founder of African Capital Alliance and Kunoch Limited. He served as chairman of both MTN Nigeria and Pan-Atlantic University during his illustrious career.
Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Dozie studied Economics at the London School of Economics and later earned a master’s degree in Administrative Science from City University, London.
Dozie established the African Development Consulting Group, which provided strategic services to top multinational clients such as Nestle and Pfizer. He also once chaired the MTN Group before stepping down, after which Ernest Ndukwe succeeded him.
In recognition of his significant contributions to Nigeria’s banking industry, Pascal Dozie was honored with the National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON).
Dozie is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, and their five children, along with other relatives.
