The Supreme Court of Nigeria has reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel on Friday, the apex court ruled that matters related to the leadership or membership of a political party fall within its internal affairs and should not be adjudicated by a court.
The Supreme Court also set aside the decision of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which had, on December 20, 2024, upheld Anyanwu’s removal by a Federal High Court in Enugu. The justices ruled that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case filed by Aniagwu Emmanuel.
