Kanye West has once again left X app, deleting his account on Sunday, just as the Super Bowl was taking place. His exit followed a controversial Super Bowl ad that reminded many social media users of the Joker’s ominous broadcasts in the Batman movies.

In recent days, the rapper had drawn backlash for openly calling himself a Nazi and making antisemitic remarks in several online posts. He had also expressed support for Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently in federal custody.

Before deactivating his X account, West posted a message thanking Elon Musk for allowing him to share his thoughts, comparing his time on the platform to a spiritual journey. He ended his message by saying, “Good afternoon and goodnight.”

Kanye’s departure from X came shortly after his unexpected Super Bowl commercial aired nationwide. In the ad, he claimed that he had spent all the production money on his new dental work and, as a result, filmed the commercial using just an iPhone. He directed viewers to visit his website, Yeezy.com.

One X user, known as “kira,” pointed out that the ad resembled a scene from The Dark Knight, where the Joker delivers a chaotic message to Gotham City. Other users joined in, posting side-by-side comparisons of Kanye’s ad and Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the villain.

Before West’s account disappeared, X had placed a warning on his profile, alerting users that it contained “potentially sensitive content.” This measure was likely a response to his recent antisemitic comments.

In one of his posts, West had written, “I’m a Nazi. I don’t like or trust any Jewish person,” further fueling outrage. He had also demanded the release of Diddy from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, referring to the disgraced rapper as his “brother.”

Following this series of controversial statements, West’s X account was flagged, and eventually, he chose to delete it himself. His departure from the platform marks yet another chapter in his history of erratic online behaviour.
