Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, visited the family of one of his teeming supporters whose residence was rattled by gas explosion.

Chronicle NG reports that the residence of an Obi supporter simply identified as @Uptownoflagos was affected by a gas explosion on Tuesday, leading to the hospitalisation of three of his siblings who suffered third-degree burns.

Reacting to the incident, Obi had sympathised with the affected family while he urged all and sundry to pray for the quick recovery of the affected victims.

However, in a statement on his X page on Thursday, the former governor of Anambra state disclosed that he visited the victims who are currently receiving treatment at the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu, Enugu state.

“Today, I visited the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu following the heartbreaking news of a ghastly gas explosion that occurred a few days ago at the home of one of our Obidient family members, @Uptownoflagos,” Obi stated.

“The tragic incident left three of his brothers with severe third-degree burns. I was there to offer my support and prayers during this challenging time.

“Such an unfortunate event weighs heavily on us all. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone facing similar challenges across the country. I continue to pray for their complete recovery and that God Almighty grants them healing, strength, and comfort,” he added.

He also urged Nigerians to remain resolute in prioritising their health by taking safety measures while at home or at work.

“As we work toward building a nation where safety, healthcare, and basic amenities are prioritised, let us remain united and supportive of one another,” the statement added.
