Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, has expressed sadness over the gas explosion that rattled the house of his supporter.

In a statement on his verified X page on Tuesday, an avid Obi supporter simply identified with his X handle as @Uptownoflagos and shared the news of a gas explosion at his residence, leaving three of his siblings hospitalised.

”A dark December for me was the last thing I envisioned.

”Ghastly gas explosion at my family house yesterday; 3 of my brothers critically down in ICU. All has been moved down to FTH Acute Burn Dept. (The 3rd hospital),” he wrote.

In a statement on X on Wednesday, Obi expressed shock over the incident while praying for the quick recovery of those affected.

Obi’s statement reads, ”I have just received the heartbreaking news of a ghastly gas explosion that occurred yesterday at the house of one of our Obidient family members, @Uptownoflagos, leaving three of his brothers with severe third-degree burns. They are currently receiving treatment in one of our National Orthopaedic Hospitals.

”Such a mishap coming at this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and all those going through similar situations across the country.

”I pray for their complete and speedy recovery and for the medical team to be guided in providing the best possible care. May God Almighty grant them healing, strength, and comfort, and uphold their entire family during this trying period.”
