Nigerians have criticised Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.

Adeboye suffered backlash from Nigerians who criticised him over his categorisation of ”madness.”

In a clip of his sermon that surfaced on social media on Tuesday, Adeboye said, ” The elders say there are three categories of madness.

”There is the one who is mad and walking about naked and they say that is the lowest category. Why? Because if you are walking along the street and you see that fellow coming, you move to the other side. That one is easy to avoid.

”Category two is the one that is fully dressed. I mean three-piece suit. Some of them are riding in their Rolls Royce, and yet they are crazy.

”Just one of them demonstrated his craziness, and the world economy crashed.

”There are some who are apostles by title, and they are crazy, and there are many of them now, and all you have to do is say a word and you silence them.

”The category three, the worst type of madness according to the elders, is the one who pays attention to a mad man.

”A madman is dancing, and you are watching. You are categorised.”

Reacting to the cleric’s statement, an X user asked, ”how mad is an elder who thinks he is standing on the pulpit of God but cannot speak against evil? What should we call it?”

Another X user wrote, ”I still wonder the later years of men like this, the regrets. You had so much opportunity to make an impact on the next generation, fight for the future, preach about bad leaders, yet you choose to focus on scriptures while the people you are teaching wallow in sadness and pain.”

Chronicle NG highlights below more reactions of Nigerians to Adeboye’s remark.

Kabongo, ”Charity begins at home. His son ran from EFCC because of billions, and his daughter says she rejected contracts. Salvation is personal.”

Mallam G, ”This is war between pastors. This guy is trying to de-market others. He’s referring to Abel Damina and people that listen to him, but Abel is better than this fraud in an old man’s body.”

Precious Kings, ”So of all issues surrounding us and a lot to prepare for sermon, this is what rubbish this papa could come up with? You people are really trying, listening to all this rubbish from pastors.”

Omole Michael, ”I lost respect for this grandpa, because of the way he kept mute for the worsening situation of this nation.”

David Oghe, ”Imagine subbing yourself; we have mad people ruling the affairs of this country; some attend his church in suit, and he watches them all. Is he part of category 3?”

Tunde, ”Categories 1 and 2 are in his church; he is in category 3. Imagine subbing yourself in a comedy show like SeyiLaw.”
