An improvised explosive device was deactivated by the Lagos State Police Command anti-bomb squad in the state’s Ikeja district.l

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police’s public relations officer, verified this on Wednesday.

He claimed that the gadget, which was wrapped in a bag, was abandoned by the roadside from an unregistered vehicle on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way.

This is coming a few hours before the nationwide hunger protest.

Nigerians, mainly youths, have lamented the hardship in the country since President Bola Tinubu was sworn in on May 20, 2023.

With protests set for August 1, the police and other security agencies have warned that bandits and insurgents may hijack the protest.
