A concerned Nigerian has called for the prosecution of syndicates accused of trading new naira notes.

In the new notes business, Akin Olaleye said party hawkers, bank managers, and CBN staff are economic saboteurs and criminal syndicates.

He stated that the party hawkers trade the new naira notes in the following ways: N10,000 for N18,000, N20,000 for N32,000, N50,000 for N65,000, and N100,000 for N120,000.

In his “X” post, Olaleye stated, “Those who sell mint naira notes at parties should face prosecution for the actual crime.” How do they get this cash?

“These are economic saboteurs and criminal syndicates, ranging from bank managers to CBN personnel!” “Madness,”he added.

    • Naira gains 7.2% to a dollar at official market

Olaleye’s reactions came on the heels of the imprisonment of cross-dresser and social media celebrity Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for six months without the option of a fine on April 12 over naira abuse, Chronicle NG reports.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos, said in her sentence that the judgement will serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of abusing and mutilating Nigerian currency.

On April 5, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to a four-count charge brought against him by the anti-graft agency.
