I rather boycott Erisco products than end up in prison – Samuel Ajayi

Erisco: Nigerians blast Police over continuous prosecution of Chioma okoli

A social media influencer, Samuel Ajayi, has announced his decision to boycott all Erisco Food products.

Ajayi announced on his X page on Thursday while reacting to the continuous presence of Mrs. Chioma Okoli by the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Erisco Foods Ltd., Chief Eric Umeofia.

Chronicle NG reports that Erisco customer Mrs. Chioma Okoli, who gave a review of the tomato paste brand, was re-arrested on the orders of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, despite court orders. Okoli was arrested around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

In a statement signed on Thursday by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, it was noted that Mrs. Chioma is accused of violating “parts of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

Reacting to the police’s statement, Ajayi noted that he would rather boycott the product than end up behind bars for giving a negative review.

Recounting personal experiences, Ajayi cheated Erisco for failing to use Chioma’s review to upgrade the product.

His statement reads, “I’d rather boycott a product that can put me in jail for giving a negative review.

“Last time I complained about my internet provider here, they got in touch with me privately and sorted out the issue. I’m still with them today.

“I complained about Delta; they sorted out issues with me too. When media companies wanted to gain visibility on TV, I rejected it because it was no longer needed. I still fly Delta today.

“The Erisco guy has vowed to use his power to put a customer in prison for a review instead of addressing issues. Of course, people will run from them too.

“And yes, the crowdfunding is for the court case. You need money to do court cases, especially when it’s against power bags who don’t care how much they spend or to what extent.

“It’s a Nigerian big man vs. the poor Nigerian masses.”
