President Bola Tinubu has stirred the irk of Nigerians over the names of delegates accompanying him on his state visit to Qatar.

Chronicle NG reports that Tinubu is scheduled to travel to Qatar on a state visit on March 2–3.

However, a list of the delegates to accompany the President on the visit to the Arab nation has infuriated Nigerians.

Notable politicians on the 38-man list include Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna State, and his counterpart, Prof. Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno State.

Others include the Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tugar; National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu; Ajuri Ngelale; Special Assistant to the President, Media and Publicity, Mele Kolo Kyari; and GCEO of the NNPCL, among others.

However, the inclusion of Seyi and Yinka Tinubu, sons of the president, in the 38-man list has left Nigerians full of criticism for the president.

Calling their inclusion “unnecessary,” Mazi Ikechukwu on X stated, “Why is Seyi and Yinka Tinubu traveling? There are so many unnecessary names. This government loves to spend money recklessly.”

In Temi Bolaji’s reaction, she alleged that Tinubu has turned Nigeria’s democracy into a “Patriarchy” when she said, “Is Seyi Tinubu part of this government? Must a member of the Tinubu family be present anytime he goes on official duty? They have turned the government to patriarchy.”

Gabriella Chidinma argued that “a whole family is going on a trip they know nothing about with Nigerian taxpayers’ money. This world is messed up. I hope and pray they come back with positive results.”

Another X user stated, “Looking at this list, the only persons qualified for this meeting are the two governors, the Ministers of Trade and Finance, and the NNPC boss.”

The list, which comes on the heels of the Federal Government’s directive to cut the cost of governance by implementing the Oronsaye report, had Nigerians accuse the Presidency of ‘speaking from both sides of the mouth.’

“For someone who claims to want to cut the cost of governance and wants to adopt Orasaye’s report or whatever it’s called, clueless Mandate Snatcher. Tinubu sure has a weird way of going about it,” Unique stated.

“If this is true, then the Oronsaye report might be a tactical distraction. Tell me about cutting costs. Family and friends are contingents on a presidential state visit,” Lajon argued.
