Ibrahim Huseini, Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Dekina Local Government Area in Kogi State, has been suspended indefinitely.

Huseini was accused of embezzling N19 million from the party’s account and threatening members prior to his indefinite suspension.

He was also accused of engaging in anti-party activities during the previous governorship election in November 2023.

His suspension was announced in a letter dated January 21, 2024, after PDP officials in the Dekina LGA voted no confidence in him.

The PDP Local Government Working Committee in Dekina accused the embattled chairman of violating established party rules and institutions.
“We, the Local Government and Ward Executives of Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State, suspend you as party divisional chairman on January 15, 2024, following a vote of no confidence by the majority executives at both local and ward levels.

“This decision stems from your mismanagement of party funds, open threats to executive members, and involvement in anti-party activities, particularly evident during the last presidential and state governorship elections in the state.

“You are hereby instructed to submit all party materials in your possession to the divisional secretary of the party. Your actions have hindered the progress of the party by not adhering to the provisions of the party constitution.”

The document included the signatures of people who voted no confidence in Boakai.

When contacted, Boakai said, “Those signatures you are seeing are not real; my exco is intact. In fact, they are meeting on Wednesday to pass a vote of confidence in my leadership.”

When asked about the N19 million he was accused of misappropriating, Boakai stated that nothing like that occurred under his watch. He claimed that a bunch of people simply sat together to create what did not happen, believing that it could fly.
