The Super Eagles of Nigeria were beaten 2-0 by the Syli National of Guinea in a friendly match played at the Bani Yas Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Monday.

The Jose Peseiro-led side, which began the game without star scorer Victor Osimhen and first-choice goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, fell behind as early as the 14th minute.

Simon Moses then had a penalty-taking opportunity to tie the game for the Super Eagles in the 20th minute but was denied by Guinea’s goalie.

The Guineans scored again in the 64th minute, doubling their lead.

Calvin Bassey replaced Kenneth Omeruo, Alex Iwobi replaced Raphael Onyedika, and Frank Onyeka took over for Chidozie Awaziem.

In the 83rd minute, captain Ahmed Musa replaced Samuel Chukwueze, Joe Aribo took over for Alhassan Yusuf, and Moses Simon was replaced by Ademola Lookman.

The substitutions, however, were ineffective, as Guinea maintained their lead to take a confidence-boosting win over AFCON in their final pre-competition match.

The Super Eagles are likely to arrive in Lagos on Tuesday as they prepare to travel to Cote d’Ivoire for the AFCON.
