Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the recently inaugurated governor of Ondo State, has vowed to immortalize the late governor of the state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, who died yesterday after a long illness.

The governor made the vow while leading members of the State Executive Council on a condolence visit to the former Ondo State Governor’s residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to express condolences to the Akeredolu family.

He stated that the late Akeredolu will not be forgotten since his legacies and influences can be seen and felt throughout the state and country.

The governor praised his late principal for being a sincere, courageous, selfless, and patriotic leader who fought for his people, promoted progress, and touched many lives.

In an emotional homage, Aiyedatiwa hailed the former governor as a caring and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather, adding that serving under his tutelage was a unique honor.

He reaffirmed that his late boss’s death is a big loss to Ondo State, the Southwest region, and Nigeria at large, emphasizing that Akeredolu’s quest for a peaceful, fair, and just society will not be forgotten easily.

The governor stated that the late Akeredolu’s legacies will continue to resonate in his essential contributions to the socioeconomic and infrastructure development of Ondo State, the rise of the Anglican Church, and legal reforms in Nigeria.

He underlined that Akeredolu had accomplished and fulfilled his duty on Earth and that he had been blessed with great children who would uphold his good name.

Pastor Kola Akeredolu, the deceased’s younger brother, on behalf of the Akeredolu family, thanked the group led by Aiyedatiwa for the compassionate visit.

Prayers were said for the Akeredolu family, and Aiyedatiwa led others in signing the condolence book.
