Barr. Simon Bako Lalong, a former Minister of Labour, Employment, and Productivity, has been sworn in as senator representing Plateau South senatorial district.

On Wednesday, he was sworn in by Senate Clerk Chinedu Akubueze at the start of plenary, which was presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Lalong was sworn in after resigning from the federal executive council, where he was Labour Minister for about four months.

He formally tendered his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.

The Court of Appeal dismissed Napoleon Bali (PDP) and declared the former minister (APC) the duly elected senator for Plateau South, directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him the Certificate of Return.

Lalong, a former Plateau State governor, stated that after extensive consultations, he has decided to proceed and take his seat in the Red Chambers to continue contributing to Mr. President’s Renewed Hope agenda.

The former governor of Plateau State promised to continue serving his people by providing quality representation in the Red Chamber after his inauguration.

“My constituents will not be disappointed in me,” assured Lalong, who was accompanied to the Senate by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.
