Hollywood actor, Alan Arkin, died at the age of 89 in his California home.

Arkin’s sons, Adam, Matthew, and Anthony, announced his death in a statement issued on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Their statement reads “Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed,”

    • Veteran Yoruba actress Iyabo Oko dies at 62

Arkin earned an Oscar for his performance in the dark comedy Little Miss Sunshine in 2006, as well as a Tony in 1963 for Enter Laughing.

Born in Brooklyn in 1934, he went to Los Angeles 11 years later when his father, a painter, began working as a set designer in the city.

However, Arkin’s father’s career ultimately crashed, but he didn’t let it dampen his enthusiasm for showbiz, which first spurred him into a music career.

Arkin and his band, the Tarriers, had a smash tune called The Banana Boat Song in 1957.
