Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has been berated by a cross-section of Nigerians for saying the weight of the nation is too much for one president to bear alone.

While stating that the weight of the country is too much for an individual to bear, Gbajabimila, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the Eid prayers on Wednesday, urged Nigerians to pray and keep praying for President Bola Tinubu as he propels the affairs of the country. He said “The weight of Nigeria is not the weight that any normal or ordinary human being can carry except with the help of almighty Allah”.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives further stated that indeed, almighty Allah is with the president, emphasizing how Allah is helping him carry the burden of the nation.

“It is evident, therefore, that the almighty Allah is with our president. He is carrying the weight for him, he added.

The statement by the Chief of Staff has generated mixed reactions from a cross-section of Nigerians on social media.

Reacting to the Gbajabiamila’s statement on Twitter, Mr. Etim stated that hence politicians spend billions and fight to get to power, they should not complain about the weight of leadership. “why do you all spend 100 of millions to carry this weight? Last I checked, it was optional but you all fight for this weight. Is there something I’m missing? Let us leave God out of this please” he said.

Mercy stated that “is one month since you grabbed power, and all the citizens are getting are nothing but severe hardships and pains. A litre of fuel is N540. So to fill my tank, I have to cough out more than N35k on top what salary na. you removed subsidy without economic plan in place’’.

For uchman22 , he berated the Chief of Staff by stating that the cost of governance, protocols and privileges the president enjoy is too high when he said “have you calculated the cost of transporting a sick man from Nigeria to France? The cost of fuel for over 100 cars that were part of his convoy? The cost of renting the crowd that waited for him? The cost of personnel that accompanied him?” he asked.

While the Chief of Staff to the President solicit for prayers for the president, for Ugochuwkwu , there is no room for excuses because “you asked for the job. Please we don’t want excuses like your predecessor”.
