    The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressive Congress the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial District election held on February 25.

    Sadiku-Ohere defeated Peoples Democratic Party candidate Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to win the hotly contested election.

    Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, the INEC Returning Officer for Kogi Central Senatorial District, announced the results on Tuesday in Okene.

    He stated that Sadiku-Ohere received 52,132 votes to Natasha’s 51,763 votes to win the seat, a difference of 369 votes.

    “Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the APC has been declared the winner of the election for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat and is thus returned elected,” Ajayi said.

    According to media reports, supporters of the APC candidate celebrated immediately after the results were announced, chanting “we have won.”
