Kawu Sumaila of the New Nigeria Peoples Party has been congratulated on winning the senatorial seat for the zone by Kabiru Gaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who represents Kano South Senatorial District.

Gaya, who announced his defeat in a statement made on Monday in Kano, said that Sumaila’s triumph was the result of Allah’s will and added that he would not challenge what Allah had decided.

He praised the All-Powerful Allah for giving him the privilege to speak for his countrymen in the upper chambers since 1999.

    • Taraba gov. lost senatorial bid to APC’s candidate Jimkuta

Also, he thanked the residents of his district for providing him the chance to serve them and advised them to vote for the newly elected senator to advance the district and the state.

Sumaila, a former senior special assistant to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives) polled 319,857 votes to defeat Gaya who secured 192,518 votes.
