    Election: Al-Makura loses senate seat

    Former Nasarawa Governor Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has lost his re-election attempt to represent Nasarawa South to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo.

    According to the returning officer, Dr. Ahmed Ashiku, who declared the results, the PDP candidate received 93,064 votes, defeating Al-Makura of the APC, who received 76,813 votes, and Mohammed Agwai of the NNPP, who received 30640 votes.

    Arch Shehu Tukur, the APC national Chairman’s preferred candidate, lost in Nasarawa West to Ahmed Aliyu Wadada of the Social Democratic Party, a former member of the House of Representatives (SDP).

    The INEC returning officer of the election for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Prof Nasirudeen Baba says Wadada of the SDP polled a total of 96488 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Shehu Tukur who scored 47717 votes.

    The PDP candidate, Musa Galadima came third with 46820 votes.

    In Nasarawa North, where Governor Abdullahi Sule hails from, the INEC returning officer, Prof IIemona Adofu of the Federal University, Lafia declared incumbent Senator Godiya Akwashiki of the SDP as the winner with 44,471 votes.

    The APC candidate, Danladi Halilu Envuluanza scored 32,058 votes while the PDP candidate, Nathaniel Aboki garnered 11,212 votes.

    The SDP candidate for Karu/Keffi/Kokona federal constituency of Nasarawa state, Jonathan Gaza was re-elected for the 3rd term with 60265 votes defeating the PDP candidate Bulus Ishaku who scored 33180 votes.

    Prof George Genyi, INEC Returning Officer for the election who declared the results said the APC candidate Mr. Auta Koro scored 28417 votes.

    In Akwanga, Wamba, Nasarawa Eggon federal constituency, the incumbent PDP member, Abdulkarim Usman lost his return bid to the house, he scored 19,681 votes while the APC candidate, Jeremiah Umaru won the election with 38,430 votes.
