Former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday arrived the venue of the All Progressives Congress presidential screening just in time to be interviewed.
Okorocha who was in danger of missing the APC presidential screening taking place at Transcorp Hotel, Abuja after he was arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission last week Tuesday secured bail on Tuesday.
A Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail on Tuesday morning in the sum of N500 million and a surety in like sum.
The former governor is being tried on a 17-count charge to the tune of N2.9 billion filed against him by the EFCC.
Okorocha was arraigned on Monday, May 30, 2022, alongside Anyim Nyerere (a.k.a Anyim Chinenye), Naphtali International Ltd, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Ltd, Consolid Projects Consulting Ltd, Pramif International Ltd and Legend World Concepts Ltd on 17-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and money laundering to the tune of N3,147,000,000.00(Three billion, One Hundred and Forty Seven Million Naira).
At his bail hearing, his counsel for the first defendant, Oke, Amaechi, SAN, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail, arguing that it is his constitutional right.
