The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, says he’s honoured to be the candidate of the party in 2023.

The former Vice President of Nigeria says it’s time to rebuild Nigeria, stressing that, he will take the message of hope and unity across the country.

In a tweet after he was announced winner, he said, “Today, the battle to rebuild and unite our great country moves forward. I’m honoured to be named the PDP candidate.

“I look forward to speaking with Nigerians across the country, taking the message of hope and unity as we build one future for one people,” he said.

Chronicle NG reports that Atiku came under fire less than two weeks ago after he deleted social media posts on his Facebook and Twitter pages in which he condemned the gruesome killing of Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, who was accused of blasphemy.

Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal stepped down for Atiku en route his victory at the party primaries.

Chronicle  NG reports that former Senate President, Pius Anyim polled 14 votes while Governor Udom Emmanuel garnered 38 votes and his Bauchi counterpart, Bala Muhammed, managed 20 votes.

Former Kwara governor Bukola Saraki got 70 votes with Wike bagging 237 votes.

As at the time of this report, Atiku has 371 votes to emerge the PDP presidential candidate again.
