    3.9m earthquake rattles California

    A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Malibu, California, on Sunday night. Tremors were felt across Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Ventura, Agoura Hills, and Westlake Village.

    The quake hit 10 kilometers northwest of Malibu at 11:17 p.m. at a depth of 14 kilometre, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. there were no immediate reports of damage.

    Volcano Discovery, a site that tracks earthquakes, received multiple reports of shaking.

    A Brea resident reported, “Sitting in my chair reading, felt a very gentle vibration, very small jiggle.”

    A Camarillo resident added, “I felt like I had to wait for it to pass but the intensity seemed to increase for just one brief moment. I don’t know if it was my fear of the unknown kicking in or what? I have been in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and it was very scary. This was a lot of swaying back and forth. The unknown possibility of real disaster striking.”

    On March 9, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck Westlake Village near Malibu in California, according to the United States Geological Survey.

    Tremors were felt in Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, Simi Valley and Long Beach. The quake struck the region shortly around 4:00 p.m. at a depth of 11.7 km.
