Many travelers have reportedly been killed following a suspected bomb explosion along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Yazid Abubakar, the state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, reportedly verified the event to The Daily Post on Saturday.

According to the Daily Post, he confirmed it in a phone conversation, saying, “I can confirm that there was a blast in that region, but the incident has just occurred. I can’t give you any details just yet. I will give you an update later.”

However, Chronicle NG was unable to contact the PPRO for confirmation because his phone was turned off at the time of filing this article.

Videos of the supposed aftermath of the incident have circulated online, showing panicked passengers fleeing the site.

An X user, Nuhu Sada with the handle #NuhuSada0, who was the SDP candidate for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, representing the Zaria Kewaye Constituency in the 2025 bye-election, posted, “Another tragic attack on innocent travelers in Zamfara. Families are grieving, lives are lost, and property is destroyed. Security agencies must act quickly to prevent further harm and bring those responsible to justice.”

Another X user, #DanKatsina50, posted, “BREAKING NEWS: Moments ago, an explosion struck travelers on the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau way in Maru LGA, Zamfara State. The blast, suspected to be an IED planted by bandits, caused deaths and loss of property; casualties remain unconfirmed. Are security agencies investigating, and what measures are being taken to secure this route?”
