Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, the honorable Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Rivers State, has reigned.
Adangor announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday, with the title “Notice of Resignation as Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Rivers State.’
According to a copy of the letter obtained by Chronicle NG, Adangor revealed that his resignation is based purely on “personal principles.”
His letter reads, “The above subject refers. I hereby give your excellency notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State, with effect from the date of this letter.
“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based purely on personal principles.
“I wish to thank your excellency for the opportunity and privilege granted me to serve in your delegation as a member of the cabinet.
“My family and I are indebted to your excellency in gratitude.
“I wish your excellency a successful tenure.
“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards always.”
His resignation comes on the heels of the political crisis between the Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Amid the political tension in the state that has seen 27 PDP members of the Rivers State House of Assembly defected to the APC, Fubara presented the Rivers State 2024 Appropriation Bill on the floor of the House with only four members of the House present.
Shortly after, the Rivers State governor ordered the demolition of the Assembly complex.
