The serene atmosphere of Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, transformed into a festive wonderland on Saturday night as telecommunications giant Globacom sponsored the community’s Starlight Night, officially marking the beginning of the Yuletide season.

Organized by the Banana Island Property Owners and Residents Association Lagos (BIPORAL), the 2024 Starlight Night, now in its fifth edition, brought residents and guests together for an evening of gratitude, reflection, and celebration.

“This event is an opportunity to usher in the Yuletide season with families and friends,” said a BIPORAL representative. “It’s also a day to reflect on how the year has been and be thankful for where we are under the beautiful weather.”

The event, which featured the lighting of a grand Christmas tree and decorative street light boxes across key locations in Banana Island, highlighted Globacom’s commitment to fostering community unity and festive cheer.

“Christmas is a time for unity, joy, and togetherness,” a representative from Globacom stated. “As a company, we believe in contributing to the communities where we operate. This is our way of giving back and spreading joy and hope to our fellow Nigerians, especially as we prepare to enter the new year.”

Residents and guests were treated to spectacular performances by Art Afrique and the Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN), culminating in a breathtaking fireworks display that illuminated the night sky with vibrant colors and sparkles.

“The fireworks display was the perfect finale,” shared a local resident. “It was a dazzling way to kick off the festive season, and we are grateful to Glo for making this possible.”

The celebration will continue with the installation of street light boxes strategically placed across Banana Island’s key streets, further enhancing the community’s festive ambiance.

Globacom’s sponsorship of the event underscores its dedication to enriching the lives of Nigerians by spreading hope and joy during the festive season.
