Abuja is set for a major transformation, according to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking on Thursday at the flag-off of the Solomon Lar Way project a key road linking Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Airport Expressway Wike declared that the capital will be on par with some of the world’s best cities before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term.
“All of us can see that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the narrative has changed,” he said. “By the grace of God, before the first tenure of Mr President ends, Abuja will compete with most cities in the world.”
The minister stressed that contractors must deliver without abandoning sites. “I don’t want a situation where you move to site and later pull out. That would be very embarrassing. Once you’ve started, stay there until the job is completed.”
Wike also revealed that Abuja’s development drive will not be limited to roads or the city centre. Satellite towns and critical sectors such as healthcare are being targeted for upgrades.
“No sector will be left untouched,” he assured. “We will make sure every sector receives the attention it deserves.”
The Solomon Lar Way project marks another step in Tinubu’s push to deliver visible infrastructure under his flagship Renewed Hope Agenda.
