Nasarawa United has been kicked out of their Lafia Township Stadium and fined N6 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for repeated violations involving poor security and fan disturbance.

The fines follow confirmed reports of an attack on Plateau United player Vincent Temitope and an attempt to harass match officials following the two clubs’ Matchday 33 match.

The NPFL charged Nasarawa United with four counts of violating the league’s framework and rules, specifically rules B13.52, B13.22, C9, and C11.

The sanction is broken down as follows: ₦1 million for failing to provide proper security, ₦1 million for failing to control supporters breaching Rule C9, ₦1 million to reimburse medical bills for the assaulted player violating Rule C11, and ₦3 million for repeated violations of the NPFL regulations.

In addition to the fine, the team will now play its remaining home games in Gombe’s Pantami Stadium as punishment for the recurring problems in Lafia.

Davidson Owumi, the NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, who signed the letter addressed to the club, emphasised that the league has a zero-tolerance attitude towards misconduct and violence.

Nasarawa United has 48 hours to react in writing, either accepting the verdict or appealing and appearing before a disciplinary panel.
