Aggrieved female students of the faculty of law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have staged a protest against the head of the faculty over alleged sexual harassment and also against the institution over alleged suppression.

In a now viral clip making the rounds on social media, the protesting students, clad in their law uniforms, could be seen chanting in unison for the dean to “go” while wielding placards, stating their exasperation over giving fellatios to the alleged randy university Don.

They aggrieved students who also called for “an end to Law School manipulation” and stated in their placards that “law girls are not bonanzas; Prof. Ndifon should stop grabbing us”.

In the course of the protest, they urged the management of the university to bring the alleged randy professor to book,  Stating that “Prof. Ndifon must go for our sanity”.

According to reports, Prof. Ndifon was previously removed from his position as Dean of Law in 2016 over allegations of rape.

Ndifon was indicted on August 29, 2015, for sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level student (name withheld) in his faculty after ordering her to his office.

On account of the rape allegation, authorities at UNICAL suspended the dean from office. The suspension was to last until he was completely exonerated from the allegations.

However, it was gathered that the University of Calabar (UNICAL) reappointed him as the Dean of its law faculty in 2022.

Sexual harassment is a crime under the criminal and penal codes in Nigeria.

Sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape are clear violations of Article 3 (4) of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (2003), Article 2 (d) of The Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) 1979, and Section 24 of the Violence Against Person Prohibition (VAPP) Act 2014.
