Udoh Ebaide Joy, a Nigerian biker, is about to create history as the first African woman to go solo from East to West Africa.

Her historic journey of nearly 90,000 km began on March 8, 2024, in Mombasa, Kenya, and will end in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ebaide revealed that her inspiration for the adventure came from a life-changing experience when she was 23 years old and was left wheelchair-bound for several months due to a vehicle accident.

Following spinal cord surgery, she expressed her determination to make the most of her second opportunity at life.

Since beginning her solo drive on March 8th, 2024, Ebaide has travelled through Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia and is currently in Angola.

In a recent Instagram post, she described her time in Angola as a country with a distinct identity.

While encountering difficulties riding on sand, she hilariously acknowledged her need for training and invited offers from Nigeria.

She wrote, “Angola is an experience different from any I’ve experienced.

“It is a country with such a huge personality. There are too many things to experience and too many memories to keep.

“It was bittersweet. Mostly bitter in the first few days, but hella sweet much later.

“In truth, the sand here was nothing compared to the one we rode through while crossing the border. I am simply pathetic at riding on sand. I desperately need some training.

“Who’d like to teach me sand riding in Nigeria next week?”
