Two people were attacked in London’s Leicester Square, a major tourist area.

Westminster police say the victims, an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman, are in the hospital.

According to the New York Times, investigators have detained a man who is currently in custody.

The police indicated that they do not believe any other individuals were involved in the incident.

“We don’t believe there are any outstanding suspects,” the police said.

A brave hero known simply as Abdullah intervened to stop the assault as tourist run amok for safety in the Leicester Square.

Abdullah, who has been working at the TWG Tea shop in Leicester Square for about eight months, said he “heard a scream” and witnessed a man in his early to mid-30s “stabbing a kid.”

“I jumped on him, held the hand in which he was [carrying] a knife, and just put him down on the floor and just held him and took the knife away from him,” he said.

“Then a couple of more people joined as well, and we just held him until the police came; it took maybe three to four minutes for the police to arrive, and then they just took him into custody.”

Police applauded the bravery of those who stepped in to help.

The two victims were reportedly identified as a mother and daughter.

“This is a horrific incident, and our thoughts are with the victims and their families,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah.

“We will continue to provide support to them over the coming days and weeks.

“I would like to pay tribute to the members of the public, including staff from local businesses, who bravely intervened in this incident.

“They put themselves at risk and showed the best of London in doing so.”

A police cordon was placed around the double doors of the TWG Tea shop, which is located next to the Lego store and in front of the M&Ms store.

Sky News said that a witness, identified as Darth Vader, witnessed a young, white, slender male clad in a black T-shirt and pants putting the girl in a headlock and stabbing her.

The 45-year-old man stated, “It was so horrific; I’ve never seen anything like it.

I was heartbroken when I witnessed the woman shouting with all of her strength.”

A representative for the London Ambulance Service said they were contacted at 11.36 a.m. to reports of a stabbing in Leicester Square.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer. We also dispatched members of our tactical response unit.

“We treated a child and an adult at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre,” they said.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police said the girl will need hospital treatment, but her injuries were not life-threatening, while her mother had minor injuries.

According to the police in Leicester, a 32-year-old male was apprehended at the scene, and no one else is wanted in connection with the attack.

There is no indication that the event is tied to terrorism, and authorities do not believe the suspect and victims know each other.
