In a country where the youths are rarely given opportunities to hold appointments and political positions and where the few who are given such chances often fail to perform or represent the largest demographic group (the youths) effectively youth leadership opportunities remain vital and revolutionary for national development.

As society evolves, it is imperative to encourage youth leadership.

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is one of the few young appointees in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He has deployed technological solutions to numerous long-standing problems that his predecessors could not surmount, transforming the ministry and its agencies from a pitiable state to one of productivity and efficiency.

Many Nigerians were previously unaware of the Ministry of Interior’s responsibilities and the agencies under it. Some viewed it as a ministry created only to announce public holidays, while others considered it redundant and unproductive.

However, under Tunji-Ojo’s leadership in 2024, the ministry generated ₦6 trillion from expatriate quotas, marriages, citizenship, and worship permits a remarkable achievement that earned him the nick

Nigerians on X have continued to praise his leadership qualities and commend President Tinubu for appointing a young, result-driven minister who has not disappointed Nigerians, especially the youths.

@Davidsoffor wrote: “While most patriotic Nigerians are happy and excited with the amazing work being done by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a ministry once synonymous with announcing public holidays, others are sad because he has blocked their ‘choppings’ by replacing the ‘old ways’ with global best practices.”

@abikeee_ said: “Leadership isn’t always about spending more; sometimes, it’s about doing more with less.

In less than a year, the Ministry of Interior under Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has quietly reset systems many Nigerians once gave up on.

For years, passport delays defined our experience. Today, that story is changing.

Reforms don’t always trend, but they’re felt in shorter queues, faster IDs, and better services.”

@_iOlatunde noted: “Meet Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior who made us realize the ministry is far more than just ‘a public holiday announcement office.”

@nekujumi commented: “Never in the history of governance in Nigeria has it been this hard to pick the best minister in a cabinet. President Tinubu’s ministers know their work as Wike is changing Abuja, so is Ojo transforming the Interior Ministry.”

@Terrykom3 added: “What innovation comes next for Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo?

He has brought visible reforms through technology:

    • Contactless passport biometric app
    • Command and control center
    • Real-time border management system
    •  E-visa
    •  E-gates
    •  E-CERPAC

We await the next digital innovation from this tech-savvy reformist.”

@NkemO_33 opined: “Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s leadership style is transformational, bold, and results-oriented. He combines entrepreneurial and tech-driven methods with public sector reforms, pushing for automation, digitization, and accountability.”

@F3_LIX17 highlighted: “When asked about Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s achievements as Minister of Interior, show them this list:

    •  Ran the ministry in 2024 with zero budget allocation.
    • Installed e-Gates at international airports.
    • Cleared over 204,000 passport backlogs within three weeks.
    •  Reduced passport processing time to three weeks.
    •  Launched contactless biometric passport technology.
    • Digitized processes across the ministry.
    • Introduced e-visa systems.
    • Decongested correctional centres and released over 4,000 petty offenders.
    • Modernized correctional facilities.
    • Promoted over 50,000 paramilitary officers.
    • Launched operations to curb visa overstays.
    • Initiated Smart Border Management and APIS.
    • Centralized passport production.
    • Improved fire service capacity and response time.
    • Recognized by the President as one of the most productive ministries.”

@adetola1705 asked: “I still wonder where Mr. President found Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. How can one man be so efficient in a ministry once viewed as redundant? Kudos to Bunmi Ojo for opening our eyes.”

@Oba_Mayor24 wrote: “You may not agree with everything, but one thing stands out — the Ministry of Interior under Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has changed. From digital reforms to upgraded services, things are moving differently.”

@Maama_Pride said: “Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s reforms are reshaping the Ministry of Interior in ways that touch lives directly. His leadership reflects vision, commitment, and accountability.”

@AbuAbdulhameed7 tweeted: “When you’re impactful, everyone wants to associate with you.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is a leader whose legacy will stand the test of time, a true role model for Nigerian youth.”

@queen_chocochip added: “With the introduction of contactless biometric capture, Nigerians can now apply for passports from the comfort of their homes. The Minister has truly transformed the immigration system.”

@Chi_Nonso17 concluded: “One thing that stands out about Tunji-Ojo’s leadership is coordination and impact. Agencies like Immigration, NSCDC, Fire Service, and Correctional Service now operate with clearer direction and accountability. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s visible progress built on intentional reform.”
