Joshua Olusanya, popularly known as Trumpet Influencer, has etched his name in the Guinness World Records for achieving the Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet, following a successful 25-hour, 30-minute, and 36-second performance held from May 9 to 10, 2025, at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos.

His initial attempt in February 2024, which lasted 24 hours and 46 minutes, was disqualified because he interrupted the session to drink water—an action that violated Guinness World Records (GWR) guidelines.

According to GWR rules, participants may consume food and drink only if it does not disrupt the continuous flow of the performance.

After receiving an official confirmation email from Guinness World Records, Olusanya shared the news on social media. The message from GWR read in part, “Dear Joshua Olusanya, we are thrilled to inform you that your application for Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder! Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing!”

Overjoyed by the recognition, Olusanya took to Instagram under the handle #officialbossboss to express his gratitude, “Official! I’m honoured to announce that I’ve set the Fridt-ever Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet! A dream we collectively fought for. Thank you, Nigeria! We made history together,” he wrote.

The February 2024 disqualification had been a setback for the trumpeter. At the time, GWR explained their decision in an email shared by Olusanya on May 19, 2024.

The organization stated, “We are writing to you with reference to your record attempt for Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet. As referenced in the guidelines, rest breaks are the only time the claimant can take a bathroom break or sleep during the attempt. They may consume food and drink while the record is in progress, but this must not disrupt the flow of the attempt. As the participant drank water during the attempt, where the performance was disrupted, the attempt has been disqualified.”

GWR concluded by saying:l, “Whilst we fully appreciate that this is not the decision you were hoping for, we trust that you will understand our position.”

Olusanya said the record-breaking attempt was not just about personal achievement, but also aimed to advocate for greater recognition of instrumentalists, promote music education, and inspire young musicians around the world to pursue their dreams with resilience and passion.
