Troops of Operation Hadin Kai captured two pickup vans suspected of transporting logistics supplies to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.
Lt. Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday.
According to him, many items were recovered, including two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tires, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, two nylons of garri, assorted adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones, and some cash in various denominations.
The statement reads, “Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), working in close coordination with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have successfully intercepted two pickup vans conveying logistics supplies suspected to be intended for Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Borno State.”
Sani stated that the operation was carried out following solid human intelligence, which alerted the operation’s headquarters to the movement of the items from Dapchi in Yobe State to the Magumeri general region of Borno State.
“Acting promptly on the intelligence, troops deployed tactically and intercepted the vehicles along the identified route.
“Items recovered during the operation include two civilian vehicles, 31 spare tires, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 ignition key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, two nylons of garri, assorted adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones, and some cash of different denominations,” he said.
He added that the drivers who transported the things, as well as the recovered materials, are currently in military prison for additional questioning to determine the extent of their involvement and to assist ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.
“This successful interception underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and the sustained collaboration between troops and local security partners in disrupting terrorist logistics networks,” he stated.
He assured everyone that the forces are still steadfast in their resolve to deny terrorists freedom of movement, cut off their supply streams, and preserve the safety and security of law-abiding civilians throughout the Northeast.
In January, troops from the 1st Brigade of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fasan Yamma, collaborated with Department of State Services operatives to intercept a significant cache of weaponry in Zamfara State.
This was conducted out in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area in response to intelligence on the activities of suspected Niger Republic-linked gun dealers.
