A train crushed and killed a 50-year-old man simply identified as Emmanuel on Saturday in Lagos State.
Chronicle NG gathered that the incident occurred in near the Arena Shopping Mall in Oshodi.
The deceased’s sister, whose name has not yet been revealed, told police that she received a phone call at 9 a.m. informing her that her elder brother had been fatally struck by a moving train.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, said in a statement that the event was reported to the command’s Mosafejo Division at 1:33 p.m.
The police promptly sent a team of detectives to the spot.
“The scene was visited and photographed by a team of detectives,” Hundeyin said, adding, “The corpse was evacuated to a public mortuary for autopsy.”
Hundeyin further acknowledged that the case had been referred to the Railway Police Command in Ebute Metta for further investigation.
The exact circumstances of the event are yet unknown, but a similar incident occurred in the Mushin area of the state in August, when a male adult was crushed to death by a moving train.
The tragedy was reported to have occurred around 6 p.m. on the fateful day, while the dead were walking along the Cappa railway tracks.
