President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound grief over the widespread devastation caused by recent floods across Nigeria, which have resulted in loss of lives, displacement of communities, and extensive damage to farmlands.

In a statement released today by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the natural disaster.

The President particularly extended his condolences to the bereaved families, displaced communities, and farmers who have lost their livelihoods.

“The President sympathizes with all victims of these ravages of nature, especially bereaved families, farmers, displaced communities, and those who have lost property,” the statement read.

According to recent data from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the floods have not only claimed lives but also damaged thousands of hectares of farmland, exacerbating the suffering of affected communities.

In his message, the President also offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the floods. He assured Nigerians that his administration, through relevant agencies, remains committed to providing necessary support to the victims and issuing timely warnings to mitigate the impact of future environmental disasters.

As the nation continues to grapple with the effects of climate change, the government’s response to these floods is expected to play a critical role in safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of its citizens.
