President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, swore in three additional ministers into his 48-member cabinet.

The brief swearing-in ceremony took place in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja prior to the start of the Federal Executive Council (FEC, meeting, which is the second in Tinubu’s administration.

This comes roughly two weeks after the Senate approved the trio following a screening on October 4.

Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Ayodele Olawande, and Balarabe Lawal, the new ministers who took the oath of office today, took the oath of office at 12:15 p.m.

Recall that President Tinubu nominated Ibrahim and Olawande as Ministers of Youth and Ministers of State for Youth on September 17.

He also asked the Senate to appoint Balarabe Lawal as Kaduna minister.

Lawal, who served as secretary to the government under former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, takes over as Minister of Environment in Tinubu’s cabinet.

Ibrahim, 37, is a native of Kwara State. She is a physician, politician, development expert, and supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

She was the National President of the APC Young Women Forum prior to her latest nomination.

Olawande is 34 years old. She is an APC community development expert and youth leader.

Prior to his appointment, Olawande worked as a special adviser on innovation to former President Muhammadu Buhari in the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. He held the position from 2019 to 2023.

Prior to the start of the meeting, the Council observed a minute of silence in memory of Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, who died on July 1.

The Murtala Mohammed military dictatorship appointed Ajose-Adeogun, who died at the age of 96, as Minister of the Federal Capital in 1976. He held the office until 1979.

Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, is present, as are the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser.

There were also ministers and the Federation’s Head of Civil Service, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment is one of the ministries, divisions, and organisations that will present a memo during the FEC meeting.
