President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the National Economic Council on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa.
The National Economic Council would be chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, with all state governors as members.
Some members of the Federal Executive Council, like the Minister of Finance, the Central Bank governor, and other public office holders, will be part of the NEC.
The National Economic Council is expected to meet monthly, and its mandate is to “advise the President concerning the economic affairs of the Federation, and in particular on measures necessary for the coordination of the economic planning efforts or economic programmes of the various governments of the Federation.”
