President Bola Tinubu has underlined his administration’s commitment to combating terrorism and building relations with Nigeria’s international allies.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” the president declared just before the Federal Executive Council entered a closed-door session on Thursday.
The meeting, held in the Council Chamber of Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, is the council’s first since July.
His words come just days after US President Donald Trump labeled Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern,’ which the Federal Government has criticized as a distortion of the country’s security situation.
In his first public remarks on the subject, Tinubu stated that his government is working with the international community to promote security, stability, and economic progress.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners.
“The success of the $2.3bn eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he said.
The president also assured Nigerians that the country is still unified and steadfast in its quest of peace and prosperity.
Tinubu praised members of his cabinet for their dedication to his Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing the need for unity and focus when pursuing government changes.
