President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, have left Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after attending the 2024 G-20 leaders summit.

Tinubu attended bilateral negotiations to push Nigeria’s socioeconomic changes at the summit, which took place from Monday, November 18, to Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The G20 meeting, hosted by Brazilian President Lula da Silva, revolved around the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”

The discussions focused on economic, social, and environmental sustainability, global governance changes, climate change, and the digital economy.

The summit brought together leaders from the world’s top 20 economies, including the European Union, the African Union, and global financial organisations, among others.

The G20 comprises 19 member countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, the UK, and the US, along with the European Union.

Chronicle NG reports that the Nigerian leader’s participation in the meeting was at the behest of the Brazilian president.
