Nigerian activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has described the President Bola Tinubu-led administration as a “curse” to Nigeria.
In a statement on X on Monday, Yesufu berated Tinubu for allegedly failing to provide an “enabling environment” for people to work and make ends meet.
Yesufu’s statement comes on the heels of the deaths of two students who died in a stampede while trying to collect palliatives.
Chronicle NG reports that two female students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, reportedly died following a stampede that occurred at the university’s convocation square on Friday.
The Nasarawa State Government distributed palliatives to students at the convocation square.
According to a university source, the two female students were confirmed dead as a result of the stampede, which injured others to varying degrees.
Reacting to the news of the deaths of the students, Yesufu noted that the Tinubu-led administration “has reduced good governance to sharing food to people, and even with the lowered standard, they are still unable to meet up. People are having to pay with their lives for food they end up not getting.”
She added that “Tinubu’s illegitimate government is the mother of all curses.”
Furthermore, the #BringBackOurGirls activist noted that “With more disposable income and an enabling environment, many didn’t need these death traps called food sharing places to feed themselves and their families once upon a time.”
