President Bola Tinubu has condemned the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, over the weekend, calling it a cowardly act.
In a statement made on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed his sadness over the incident and lamented those who died.
The statement partly read, ”President Bola Tinubu has expressed anguish over the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, at the weekend.
“The president mourned those who lost their lives, describing the attack as cowardly.”
The president urged security forces to step up efforts to wipe out remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents, who he said are increasingly targeting civilians in vulnerable areas.
“He urged security agencies to double their efforts in routing remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents who resort to attacks on soft targets as a diversionary tactic,” the presidency added.
Tinubu also expressed his sympathies to the government and people of Borno State and urged the National Emergency Management Agency to assist survivors.
“President Tinubu condoled with the government and people of Borno State over the incident and directed the National Emergency Management Agency to support survivors,” Onanuga said.
