President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Folashade Arinolan Adekaiyaoja as Deputy Director General of the DSS.

According to reports, the presidential approval wants to change the agency’s structure for greater efficiency, consistent with the service’s original organogram.

Checks indicated that the DSS is established with three Deputy Directors General in its hierarchy.

According to elated agency operatives, the nomination and ratification by the president were based on the DG’s recommendation through the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

One of the individuals, the nomination is consistent with existing regulations and unique in the Secret Service’s history.

The appointment of Adekaiyaoja, a native of Kogi State, has been lauded by a cross-section of officers and operatives who consider her as perfectly qualified for the position.

It was also reported that, in keeping with his commitment to improve the security of Nigerians’ lives and property, Tinubu had entrusted the chiefs of security agencies with developing ideas for improving service delivery.

“It was on this note,” offered a security source, “that the President approved the DG’s recommendation, which many serving and retired officers are confident would boost career progression in the Service.”

Tinubu had, at the investiture ceremony of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) Executive Intelligence Management Course, 17 graduates last December, promised to support the DSS and other security agencies with AI-powered state-of-the-art equipment to combat insecurity across the country.

Speaking through the NSA, the president indicated that he was aware of the current security concerns and urged the security agencies to collaborate for the benefit of all Nigerians.

Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi, Director-General of the DSS, vowed substantial improvements to the organisation upon taking office in late August 2024, claiming that the DSS will become one of the world’s most efficient covert security agencies.
