Terrorists on Tuesday night, attacked Rim Village in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two people and injuring two others.
Residents who spoke to the press in Jos on Wednesday said the assailants stormed the community around 10:30 p.m., firing indiscriminately for several minutes before fleeing into the surrounding bushes.
“The attackers invaded the Rim community around 10:30 p.m., shooting sporadically before escaping into the bush,” a resident, John Sati, said, adding that the injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, Rwang Tengwong, also confirmed the incident, describing it as another disturbing episode in the recurring attacks in the area by terrorists.
“Gunmen stormed Rim Village around 10 p.m. on Tuesday and opened fire. Two people have been confirmed dead, while two others sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital,” Tengwong said.
He called on security agencies to intensify patrols and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice.
The Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, had yet to comment on the incident at the time of filing this report.
