Terrorists have once again attacked Suwa and Ding’ak villages in the Mushere chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, killing three people, including a pastor.

The attack occurred between 1pm and 2pm on Friday, killing three people.

Kefas Mallai, the Chairman of Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, Plateau state, confirmed the killings to reporters in Jos on Friday night.

Mallai named the victims as Pastor Gideon Katings of COCIN Suwa, Sunday Ringkang, and Meshach Bukata.

He stated that Michael Kamshak and several others were injured and are currently being treated at Cottage Hospital in Bokkos.

Mallai further revealed that the incident caused the displacement of hundreds of residents.

Mallai said, “Between 1:00 and 2:00 today, Friday, 8th August 2025, Suwa and Ding’ak villages in the Mushere chiefdom of Bokkos LGA were attacked by terrorists, leading to the untimely death of three, including Pst Gideon Katings of COCIN Suwa, Sunday Ringkang, and Meshach Bukata, while Michael Kamshak and others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at Cottage Hospital Bokkos.

“Several residents, in their hundreds, have been displaced.”

Alabo Alfred, spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, was unavailable when our journalist phoned him because his phone was turned off.

The killings on Friday are the latest in a string of violent incidents in Bokkos and the neighbouring districts.

In recent times, the council region has experienced increased instability, with over 20 villagers slain in separate attacks in the last month and property destroyed.

The chairman of the Bokkos LGA, Amalau Samuel Amalau, has urged security forces to take decisive action against these militias, stressing the need to safeguard innocent lives and prevent future displacement.

The Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has equally condemned the attacks, describing them as “genocide” and “a coordinated attempt at land grabbing.”

Mutfwang has vowed to work with security agencies to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of residents.
