Four rice farmers have been abducted by terrorist in Bokungi village, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, in a second attack within a day.
The incident followed the assault on worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku on Tuesday, where gunmen opened fire during a service and took several people away.
Footage from the Eruku attack, recorded during a live stream, showed congregants in mid-worship before gunshots rang out around the church. The community lies close to the Kogi border and has witnessed several security breaches in recent months.
The latest incident unfolded on Wednesday evening. Witnesses said the terrorist stormed Bokungi between half past six and seven while farmers were on their fields.
Two farmers were abducted while gathering harvested rice, and two others were taken shortly afterwards from a nearby plot. Local sources described the operation as well organised, with the attackers shooting into the air before retreating into the bush with their captives.
Families have not received any ransom demands. Residents say fear has spread through the area, leaving many anxious about returning to their farms. They appealed for stronger security patrols along the Lafiagi–Bokungi route to curb further attacks.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kwara police command for confirmation were unsuccessful.
