At least one person has been confirmed dead and several others injured as Taliban enforcers whipped Afghanistan citizens who lowered the Taliban banner and replaced it with that of Afghanistan, a day before their independence in Jalalabad.

The number of those killed is believed to be more as shots were fired directly at the protesters.

Journalists, cameramen and their associates were also beaten during the clampdown by the Islamic extremists.

In a related incident, there was a stampede at an airport in Kabul as Taliban also whipped citizens to prevent them from entering the airport.

Since the hostile takeover of the Afghanistan by the Taliban, many Afghans have tried to leave the country through the airport as the roads have been blocked by Taliban enforcers.

According to an Afghan official who worked at the airport, Afghan civilians seeking to leave have been told not to gather around the airport unless they had a passport and visa to travel.

The situation in Afghanistan is rapidly degenerating as the President himself, Ashraf Ghani has fled the country to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

However, the Taliban has granted a blanket amnesty to all government officials.

China was one the first countries to acknowledge the legitimacy of the Taliban government, stating that it is looking forward to collaborating with the new Afghan leadership.

Meanwhile, the same cannot be said for the U.S. led NATO alliance.
