The National Sports Commission (NSC) has put an end to rumours about the Super Falcons’ unpaid incentives, claiming that all outstanding payments were made prior to the team’s final match against Morocco.

Bukola Olopade, the NSC Director-General, corroborated this information during an appearance on Arise TV on Friday.

Olopade said, “I can confirm authoritatively that all their bonuses have been paid. I spoke with Ajibade yesterday and with the NFF, and everybody is on the same page.”

However, there appears to be a discrepancy, as Olopade stated that one or two players may not have received their bonuses due to bank troubles with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

However, he assured that the promise made by the President would be fulfilled, saying “On the promise of Mr President, I can assure you that it will be paid.”

According to him, the NSC is working with the Minister of Works and Housing to ensure the team receives their houses as promised.

“The NSC is in contact with the Minister of Works and Housing and with the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative to ensure that they receive their houses in record time,” he said.
Olopade stressed that the NSC prioritises the remuneration and welfare of athletes.

“The NSC doesn’t play with the remuneration and welfare of athletes,” he said, assuring that all issues would be resolved soon.

The NSC DG responded directly to Rasheedat Ajibade’s concerns, providing clarification on the $100,000 incentive for the Super Falcons’ 2024 WAFCON triumph.

Speaking in a recent interview, Ajibade had said, “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it will be paid. They have not paid all the promises; we have not received anything.”

She also stated that their match bonuses are still being processed, saying, “Even our match bonuses and everything are all still works in progress.”
