Parents rushed to remove students from the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Bwari, Abuja, on Saturday as security concerns grew.
According to AFP on Sunday, tense scenes emerged outside the school entrance, with parents hauling baggage, assisting their daughters in packing, and arranging immediate transportation home.
Many students, some still wearing their uniforms, loaded their stuff into vehicles, while others assisted classmates who had not yet finished gathering their belongings.
The rush followed the Federal Government’s announcement on Friday to close down 47 Federal Unity Colleges nationwide, including FGGC Bwari, due to rising insecurity in many regions.
The directive was issued in a circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education.
