The death has been reported of a prominent United States football journalist who died while covering the World Cup in Qatar.
On Friday night, Grant Wahl, 48, passed out unexpectedly while watching Argentina vs. Netherlands.
Although it has not yet been formally confirmed, early reports indicate that he suffered “acute distress.”
Last month, Mr. Wahl was briefly held by Qatari police for attempting to enter a stadium while wearing a rainbow-colored shirt in favor of LGBT rights.
The US Soccer Federation issued a statement in which it expressed its “heartbreak” over the information.
